Groundwater Well Survey

Groundwater is our underground source of drinking water supply.  The District is making a good neighbor effort to manage this natural resource for all users within our groundwater basin.. In response to drought and groundwater resource concerns, the state of California passed legislation that establishes a new structure for managing groundwater. The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) requires locally formed Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) be responsible for developing and implementing a Groundwater Sustainability Plan. By stepping up to serve as the Groundwater Sustainability Agency for the Tahoe South Subbasin, the District is helping to ensure that locals have the primary say, and responsibility for, managing local groundwater resources, instead of the state.

The survey is being provided in the form of a questionnaire which can be completed either from home, by phone, or on-line using the link below. The survey asks about your well, water usage, and any concerns you may have regarding your well.  For participation in the survey the District is offering guidance on well maintenance; a site check to help prevent contamination from entering your well; and testing to understand your well’s water quality. The survey should take 5 to 10 minutes to complete. If you have any questions about the survey or wish to schedule a well check or water quality test, please contact  Mark Seelos at (530) 544-6204.
